A Homicidal Maniac?

JANICE FLIPPED A SWITCH ON HER CONSOLE. Viewfinders dropped from the ceiling in front of the three barber chairs; firing mechanisms with triggers flipped out of the seats’ arms.

“Wow!” William said. “I didn’t know you had missiles hooked up on this thing!”

“Environmentally sensitive solar-powered lasers,” Janice replied. “Come on! In your seats!”

As the crew dove for their chairs, a giant tree exploded out of the hose. Spinning like a missile, it shot straight toward them.

“Incoming!” Janice cried.

Jimmy shuddered. After a day that had included everything from flying in spaceships to sprinting Dalmatians, was his adventure to be brought to an end by a tree?
